Last week the largest B2B medical expert trade fair took place in Düsseldorf, Germany. 83.000 visitors and participants from 70 nations were at MEDICA - Leading International Trade Fair.
New this year was a session on Circadian Health. As guest speaker, Angela Relógio, CEO of TimeTeller GmbH and head of the group of Circadian Medicine and Systems Biology at the MSH Medical School Hamburg, discussed recent advances in the field of circadian health both regarding health optimization and disease prevention, as well as in treatment personalization following the patient’s circadian rhythm. New tools to measure the circadian clock like the saliva-based TimeTeller-IVD are now emerging in the field and will contribute to the implementation of circadian medicine in the clinical routines, for the benefit of the patients.
Important aspects related to the impact of circadian considerations in the society including important aspects like the winter/summer time or optimal school opening hours were discussed by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Cuhls, from the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI, also a speaker at the session.
A big thank you to the organizers for bringing this new exciting topic to the MEDICA, and looking forward to a session on the topic in 2024!
It takes grit to start a company, and it takes a village to make it work!
An important role is played by policy makers. TimeTeller GmbH is most grateful to have been part of the Hamburg Start-Up delegation during a two-days visit to Berlin. We had the opportunity to discuss start-up specific topics with Staatsrätin Almut Möller, Marcus Körber from the Landesvertretung Hamburg in Berlin, and MdB Metin Hakverdi. A follow-up meeting is in planning, and given the diversity of the topics within the start-up landscape in Hamburg, there will certainly be a lot to discuss. Many thanks also to Claudia Behrendt from the Digital Hub Initiative, Reik Högner from the Deutscher Bundestag, the Bundespressamt, the Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action, Julius Welsch from Life Science Nord, and Angus Baigent from Hamburg Aviation for the great photos!
